During 2009, 2010 and 2011, 15 miles of the New York State Thruway (I-90) between Interchange 39 (Syracuse I-690) and Interchange 40 (Weedsport Rt. 34) was under construction. This $128 million project provides a new concrete roadway section that improves rideability and safety. Erdman Anthony provided construction inspection services for pavement reconstruction and miscellaneous bridge rehabilitations in Onondaga and Cayuga Counties of the Syracuse Division.
This work included concrete pavement reconstruction of mainline and Interchange 40 ramps, guiderail replacement, slope flattening, drainage improvements, miscellaneous bridge rehabilitations, wetland mitigation, landscaping, extensive maintenance and protection of traffic (MP&T), including long term cross-overs and modifications to the VMS overhead sign. Work also included construction support services such as shop drawing review, and plant and material inspection.
The 3-year project was constructed in six 5-mile long segments.
