Fort Niagara State Park Water Main Project
Youngstown, NY

  • Owner: New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

This project was the recipient of a Project of the Year Award in Historic Preservation by the American Public Works Association.

Erdman Anthony was retained by the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to perform engineering services in conjunction with the replacement of aged waterlines at Fort Niagara State Park.

Due to the historic significance of the park, the new waterline had to be designed taking into account several archaeologically significant areas. This required that it be installed in the same trench as the existing line necessitating above-ground temporary bypass water systems. Services provided included survey, mapping, hydraulic analysis and design of approximately 13,000 ft of 8-in.- and 10-in.-diameter PVC waterline and appurtenances.

Engineering services included the design of a new meter pit connection to the Town of Porter waterline system, and valve and piping improvements at the existing Village of Youngstown meter pit.
