Erdman Anthony has developed several unique methods of project execution that set us apart from our competition. One such method is our Laser Scanning and 3D Design system, described in four simple steps below. There are several benefits to using this technique.
LASER SCANNING...
- Produces accurate "field condition" documentation of the physical space
- Allows visual access to areas not normally accessible (dark, restricted, high elevations, etc.
- Reduces site investigation from weeks to hours, and thereby minimizes staff exposure to potentially dangerous environments
3D DESIGN SYSTEM...
- Allows items to be placed and designed once
- Allows clients to visualize the finished product before construction
- Greatly eliminates interferences through detection, reducing construction rework -
- Allows models to be used in construction by the trades (bidding, construction coordination, final design built per plan)
- Allows models to be easily used by the owner during design, for review, and after design as a building or plant model
- Makes material management reports quick and easy to generate (bill of materials, piping, steel, etc.)
- Provides data utilized by other analysis or applications (fluid dynamics, thermal expansion, etc.)

DIGITAL PHOTO
Using digital photos of the area, we indicate the piping along with the support locations (their steel and rods or slides) we need information on. We indicate any building faces we need as reference points. This helps define the items or information we plan to extract from the laser scans. |

POINT CLOUD
This is the actual laser scanned point cloud. This is the image we create by mapping a series of views from different angles. Using the digital photo as a reference, we extract key data points, shapes, and surfaces to build an accurate CAD file of data. |

CAD FILE
This is the AutoCAD file created from the laser point cloud. This is developed further to route 3D piping with the COADE Cadworx modeling application and AutoCAD building systems. |

3D CAD FILE
This is the CAD file created by Erdman Anthony. Piping and supports were modeled intelligently with COADE Cadworx, which allows bills of material to be extracted. The pipe models are also able to be exchanged with COADE Caesars II for stress analysis.
