Erdman Anthony provided the site, civil, and land surveying services for Commons at Royal Palm Beach, a 20-acre commercial development in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, that is home to Hobby Lobby, Party City, PetSmart, and smaller retailers. The project had various complexities, including paying significant attention to stormwater management because of the development’s location within the western C-51 drainage basin.
The project required our team to conduct an analysis of the groundwater and neighboring surface waters to establish the control water elevation. Dry pretreatment was provided on-site in a dry pond. Compensating storage was accommodated in an on-site lake. Erdman Anthony was instrumental in the negotiation of a developer's agreement with the village that included joint funding for the community sewage lift station that our firm designed for the neighboring residential community.
The force main route involved approximately 4,000 linear feet of 6-inch and 10-inch force main, including a subaqueous crossing of the Lake Worth Drainage District S-2 canal and a connection to an existing force main within State Road 80. The connection within SR 80 required nighttime construction, lane closures, and backfill with flowable fill to ensure minimal disruption to traffic on that major arterial.
In the end, our firm helped the developer create an attractive shopping center that is an asset to the community.
