This project’s goal was to replace an existing bridge over Conewango Creek, on Poland Center Road (County Road 325) in Chautauqua County, NY. The work included removing the three-span steel multigirder bridge superstructure and its substructures to make way for a new single-span steel multigirder bridge on new concrete abutments.
New bridge rails, guide rails, guide-rail transitions, and minor paving were also part of the project.
Special features of the project included the installation of a dry hydrant to assist local fire departments in their efforts. The project also included a 4f study and the construction of a wooden boardwalk and canoe launch, given that the bridge spans a canoe trail.
The project’s construction cost was partially federally funded. The balance of the funding was made up of state and local funds.
