Canstruction 2025: Rochester Office Stacks Cans to Fight Hunger
Author: Erdman Anthony
Date Released: October 17, 2025
On October 11 at Canstruction 2025, Erdman Anthony volunteers joined other Rochester, New York, teams of engineers and architects in designing and building sculptures out of cans of food at The Strong National Museum of Play.
The annual charity competition, which takes place in 100 cities across North America, raises awareness about food insecurity. This year’s theme, “Cosmic Conquest: Rise of the Cans,” inspired an out-of-this-world design by Erdman Anthony volunteers. “Mission: Zero Hunger,” celebrating friendly alien encounters, was constructed out of 1,918 cans of food.
The cans from all 13 competing sculptures will be donated to Foodlink, a Rochester-based food bank that serves as the hub of the emergency food system across a 10-county service area.
The sculptures are in competition for a People’s Choice Award (and bragging rights!) and will be on display at The Strong through October 25, 2025. Votes for the award can also be cast at https://www.canstructionrochester.com/.
