SUNY Oneonta Alumni Hall Voice of the Community
In Oneonta, New York, an aging State University of New York campus building—a brick and steel library built in the 1950s—is now a place that students of the SUNY Oneonta business and economics program call “really cool,” “energizing,” and “sophisticated.”
SUNY Oneonta’s Alumni Hall, a 47,600-gross-square-foot 70+ year old former library, also houses the school’s Division of University Advancement.
Alumni Hall was slated for renovation, and building operations needed to meet a requirement to reduce then-current energy use by 50%, per State University Construction Fund (SUCF) Directive IB-2. While ground source heat pump wells and efficient lighting and bathroom fixtures are a major step towards decarbonization goals, innovative designs throughout the building have transformed the user experience.
