The Project
Erdman Anthony provided commissioning (Cx) services for Dr. David and Ruth Anderson Academy School No. 16 in downtown Rochester, NY.
Features/Solutions
The 84,300-square-foot building, including a three-story addition, has a gymnasium, a library, a cafeteria, a kitchen, general classrooms, conference rooms, a common room, and a mechanical room. The building’s renovation involved interior work, MEP, and district-wide technology improvements.
The scope for the mechanical system Cx included seven rooftop units with chilled/hot water, four rooftop units with enthalpy wheels, make-up unit with gas-fired heating, and associated ductwork. Other systems commissioned included split systems, exhaust fans, a PTAC unit with DX cooling and hot water, VAV terminal units, fan coil units, cabinet unit heaters, finned tube radiation, domestic water, lighting controls, an emergency generator, a building management system, a fire alarm system, data cabling, public address, and access control.
Impacts
The renovation was part of the Rochester City School District’s multiphase school modernization plan. Cx confirmed that the systems are installed, functionally tested, and capable of being operated and maintained in conformance with the owner’s needs and design intent.
