Schottland Family YMCA

Commissioning Services

Location: Pittsford, NY

Owner: YMCA of Greater Rochester

Status: Completed

Construction Cost: $45 Million

The Project:

Erdman Anthony provided commissioning (Cx) services for the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s new Schottland Family YMCA. The 140,000-square-foot facility’s features two pools with a splash pad, three gyms, a childcare center, preschool classrooms, group exercise studios, a cycling studio, locker rooms, and two medical practices owned by the University of Rochester Medical Center

Features/Solutions:

Humidity in the natatorium had been leaking into other parts of the building, so our firm commissioned the dehumidifier unit serving that area. Other devices commissioned included HVAC rooftop units serving the cycling studio and the first-floor locker room, as well as exhaust fans. The scope of services included reviewing the completed construction documents and specifications, making site visits to observe component and system installations, and completing a final Cx report.

Impacts:

The facility now offers programming that emphasizes the importance of fitness, wellness, and community, and Cx confirmed that the systems are installed, functionally tested, and capable of being operated and maintained in conformance with the owner’s needs and design intent
