Lighting and Signal Improvements

Location: Broward County, FL

Owner: FDOT District 4

Status: Completed

Construction Cost: $7 Million

The Project

A 2.75-mile segment of State Road 7, Broward/Palm Beach County Line to north of SR 808/Glades Road, was part of a FDOT, District 4 in-house mobility improvement project in Palm Beach County requiring lighting and signal upgrades.

Erdman Anthony was selected to provide signalization and lighting design, and post-design services for the project.

Features/Solutions

The signalization scope included upgrading the SR 7—Boca Woods Lane intersection to mast arms, replacing signal controllers and video-detection equipment at all signalized intersections within the project’s limits, and installing signal interconnect to eliminate gaps in the existing signal communication network.

Lighting work included replacing existing light poles impacted by widening for bike lanes throughout the corridor for mobility improvement.

Impacts

This project involved adding lighting retrofits at all signalized intersections within the project’s limits to meet FDOT’s latest lighting design standards for improved safety.
