The Fresh Market – South Miami Store

The Fresh Market opened a new 25,000-square-foot store in 2026 on the ground floor of a residential high-rise in South Miami. A large seating area for customers and a Market Square island offering house-made barbeque and other prepared foods are among the store’s amenities.

Erdman Anthony designed the store’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration (MEPR) systems. Because the store sits at the bottom of a parking deck and residential tower, typical rooftop HVAC equipment could not be utilized at the site.

We designed a water-based condensing loop to provide a glycol fluid mixture for the HVAC and refrigeration (HVACR) systems’ condensing needs. We also designed pumps stations to circulate the condensing fluid to all of the HVACR equipment and then up to the dry fluid coolers on the building’s roof. Vertical shafts throughout the building conceal the plumbing pipes and the grease exhaust ducts, and the ducts run from the kitchen hoods, through the shafts, to the exhaust fans on the roof.
