At its annual awards program on May 2, 2026, the Rochester Engineering Society presented the 2025 Kate Gleason Young Engineer of the Year Award to Erdman Anthony’s Rebecca Kohlman, PE, PTOE. The award aims to recognize outstanding achievement and contributions to the engineering profession and to promote the importance of engineering to society.
Hired as a transportation engineer in 2023, Rebecca is responsible for roadway, traffic signal, and multimodal infrastructure projects for the New York State Department of Transportation and municipal clients. She is a Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) alum and is very involved in the ACE Mentor Program of Rochester, providing high school students with insight into engineering careers and guiding them through real-world design challenges.
In March, RIT recognized Rebecca with a 2026 CET Alumni Rising Star Award, which is given to recent graduates who have noteworthy achievements early in their careers and pursue public service. As president of the Rochester Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), she has led efforts to reestablish a vibrant relationship between the local chapter and the ASCE student chapter at RIT.
