Slope Repairs Continue for Pennsylvania’s Scenic SR 120

Slope Repairs Continue for Pennsylvania’s Scenic SR 120

Author: Erdman Anthony/Monday, August 9, 2021/Categories: In the Community, Our Industry, Our people

PennDOT District 2-0 has undertaken a project to examine and repair steep slopes along a 60-mile stretch of State Route 120 where it winds through Cameron and Clinton counties, including two state forests.

Built in 1926, the two-lane road serves small communities and recreational tourism. It also serves as a trucking lane for the logging and oil and gas industries.

Erdman Anthony is leading a team of engineers to develop creative solutions to stabilize SR 120’s slopes for all users. The challenges include conducting thorough geotechnical studies so that cost-effective slope stabilization can be implemented, and providing access to the mountainous terrain for equipment.
