Engineering Project Case Studies | Erdman Anthony

Erdman Anthony is handling drawings for the renovation of an over 100,000-square-foot warehouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania including provisions for robotic picking to fill Peapod grocery orders. Robotic picking requires extensive electrical and network wiring for the robots and conveyors that ultimately occupy a large portion of the warehouse.

The fire considerations required review with local officials to discuss limits on product types, storage heights, and densities. The mechanical systems are fairly standard for dry storage areas, except for a requirement for humidity control. Large refrigerated coolers at 35 F include a separate picker system to collect produce and other medium-temperature items.
