This project improved rush-hour traffic flow aiming to reduce congestion-related accidents for the approximately 100,000 vehicles that move through the interchange daily.
Phase 2 work included the construction of six new bridges and several on/off ramps and the widening and reconstruction of several miles of interstate highway. The work also involved extensive earthwork, asphalt pavement, a new noise wall, numerous utility relocations, new traffic signals, new highway lighting, and the installation of new overhead sign structures.
To accommodate the needed improvements, extensive clearing and grubbing and the removal of four existing buildings were also required.
Erdman Anthony provided two office engineers and five inspectors for this project.
